This is not the exhaustive list, refer to Qualifying Life Event document by TRI-AD for the entire list of events.
Follow the steps below to change your benefit elections for a Qualifying Life Event. You must report your life event to TRI-AD within 30 days of the event. For example, if your spouse terminates employment on 3/15, you have until 4/14 to initiate your change. Make sure to initiate your life event in the enrollment portal within 30 days of your event. If you don't initiate benefit changes within 30 days after your event, you won't be able to modify your elections until the next annual enrollment period.
- Go to MA Connect > MA Benefits > Benefits Enrollment > Change My Benefits.
- From the Life Events menu, choose the applicable life event.
- TRI-AD will need a copy of your documentation to process your benefits change, unless it’s for the birth of a child. Upload the required documentation into the Benefits Portal by the 30-day deadline for your status change to be approved; otherwise, you will be unable to make your change until the next open enrollment period or subsequent qualifying life event.
- View your new benefit summary online once your documentation has been approved by TRI-AD to confirm your changes. If you find any discrepancies, contact TRI-AD immediately. Additionally, it’s a good idea to check your first paystub on MA Connect after your benefits are effective to make sure premiums are being deducted correctly.
