I’m turning 65, do I need to make any changes?
- Employees who turn 65 can continue their medical coverage until they leave the firm.
- You don’t need to sign up for Medicare parts A or B. Upon termination, there’s an SSA form which we can complete to document you were covered on our plan while you were 65.
- What happens to my benefits when I turn 65?
The firm doesn’t require anyone to drop coverage when they turn 65. You can continue your benefits as long as you’re employed and benefits-eligible. You can decide whether you want to:
- Enroll in Medicare Part B and keep your current coverage. The firm's coverage would be primary, and Medicare would be the secondary payer, or
- Keep only your current coverage and delay enrolling in Medicare Part B. Signing up for the premium-free Medicare Part A has no impact with your current coverage.
